The eternal question is not existential. It is about survival – your child surviving the school day with the yummy (you think), nutritious (you know) snacks you have packed for her. But then, kids are notorious for not eating what you pack. What do you do? Keep trying, of course! And here are 2 time-tested recipes for school snacks. Let me know if these worked…

Corn Bhel

Ingredients

2 cups boiled sweet corn
1/2 Onion chopped fine(optional)
Handful of roasted peanuts
Chopped coriander
Salt
Pepper
Juice of half a lemon
Chaat masala ( optional)
Sev

Method
———–
Mix the corn, onion, peanuts salt and pepper.
Squeeze the lime over and sprinkle with chaat masala , coriander and crunchy sev..
And don’t forget to pack a spoon …

Honey French toast

Ingredients

Loaf of bread cut into thick slices
Milk
Honey
Sugar
Salt
Vanilla essence
1 egg
Chocolate
Butter
Oil

Method
———–
Beat up two cups of milk with one egg , 1tsp vanilla essence, 3 tbsp honey , a pinch of salt and 2tbsps sugar.
Heat a mixture of butter and oil in a pan( oil is added so the butter won’t burn).
Keep the heat low , dip the bread slices till its soaked in the milk and place it gently in the pan.
Cook both sides.
Pack with a little sprinkling of honey and chocolate shavings.
A little messy but stays beautifully moist.
